| The
Holywell Inn dates back before 17th century but it is reputed that
a pub, maybe parts of the present building, had stood on the site
since the 14th Century. There is certainly still evidence of the
original straw thatched roof built on old cobb (mud&straw) walls
with old oak beams.
The Holywell Inn can be found in the
village of Holywell Lake 3 miles South of Wellington in Somerset,
near the border of Devon and less than a mile from the A38 at Beambridge.
We have an ideal position for country
walks, so you may wish to either drive and use us as a base for
your walking, or on a pleasant day maybe try a lovely walk from
Wellington.
The main bar has heavy oak beams, an
open fireplace and country pictures on the walls.

We're in it |
The inn is a free-house,
and for those who enjoy good ale, there are well kept Westcountry
beers from local brewers such as Cotleigh and Exmoor Ales on hand-pump,
in addition to guest beers. We have a varied fare of home-prepared
food made from locally sourced produce.
For Lunchtime our Lunch
Menu has a wide range of food from baguettes and Ploughman's
to tasty, hot, home-prepared meals. Our Evening
Menu has a much larger range of hot meals plus we always have
a few chef's specials on the blackboard. Also check out out very
popular two for one Steak Night
every Thursday.
For
Sunday lunch we have our very popular carvery where there is a choice
of three roasts, normally Beef, Pork and Turkey along with a huge
range of roasted/boiled vegetables. There is also our famous range
of vegetables in sauces these are much liked by vegetarians but
why not try some with your roast... many do.
We have a large garden to the rear, with
plenty of tables, where nice cool drinks and food can be served in the
summer months.
There is ample car parking for customers.
Families are welcome but young children are restricted to the top
dining area or the function room. Well behaved dogs are welcome
all lunchtimes but in the evening, but please, only once meals have been finished.
